Listen to me

There she was, working at her office and scribbling notes off the internet. She liked being sure about things, doubly perhaps. She got in this habit of subconsciously biting her lips when she was confused and fiddling with her pen. She had had enough of work that day, when she saw the time it was close to 6:30 in the evening to which she sighed in relief and sprawled off her chair and shut her notebook close.

"You better be not working." said one text on her phone from Him. "We are going out for a movie :P" said the other. "Reply you dumbass" the third and "Fine I'll ask one of those chicks out then" said the last text in a span of what 3 hours? Ok, this was weird she thought. Him? He asked her out for a movie? She couldn't help but smile while she called him up and he answered with a "You are such a little piece of dramaqueen, why won't you reply." he said. "I am still at work, winding up now of course. So what's with the movie" she giggled. "I'm around your work place, come down in 2" was all he said and hung up. "B..." she hated it when he did this. Absolutely mad that he never heard what she had to say sometimes "Prick" was all she said while getting out.

He opened the door for her to help herself in the car. She was putting all her things away while he patiently stared at her like it was an apocalypse and raised a furious eyebrow at her. "What?" she said. He shrugged a rather rude jerk and resumed driving without a word. "What's with you lately?" she shook her head not expecting a reply. "And you have forgotten how to greet me haven't you, you little moron" he gritted his teeth. She laughed loud enough to piss him off and turned to him while he drove and gave him a brief hug and ruffle his hair. "Don't spoil the doo idiot" he said as he pulled her one of her cheeks in return. He hated it when his hair was bad. She shook her head and rolled her eyes and sat back into the seat comfortably. "So where are we going" she inquired "Movie?". "No, I already got someone else to tag along with me since you didn't answer" he said lazily "Oh....ok" she said, partly disappointed. "Who are you going with?" she asked "Someone you don't like" he grinned at her. She didn't have the energy to ask who it was. He pulled her hand and rest it on the steering wheel and said "Hold it for me, I need to look at you while you burn down to jealousy." he was amused at her silence. She hit his hand and pulled hers away as he laughed rather enjoying this.

He drove down to her place and parked his car and turned to her turning the lights off just to see how pissed she was. She didn't turn to look at him. She knew he would speculate and simply said "See you, thanks for the ride..." he poked her rib while she said this. "oww" she complained and turned to look at him to only find him smiling his crooked angelic smile. "I am waiting down here, get changed and come" he said in an even tone. "No! Carry on with whatever you have planned" she said dryly. He shook his head once and held his smile and said "20 minutes enough time for you to get ready?". She hated this. He was so damn annoying and good at convincing her the same time. She breathed heavily and gasped "FINE" was all she said and couldn't help smiling secretly when she got out of his car. She ran up to her apartment and pulled out her clothes to a semi-casual and quickly freshened up and to her surprise was ready in like 10 minutes and back down to the parking. She pulled the door open and saw him on a call, busy blasting someone away. Curiously she wriggled her brows at him and he shook his head while on phone assuring her it was Ok and turned the gas on and drove. His gaze turned to her again and this time he smiled and raised his free hand to make a thumbs up. She smiled at him and asked him to drive in actions. They were rather used to each other. He was on the same call most of the way and she thought of it a good time to reply to everybody's texts and calls. She checked her facebook and saw His status say "Giving In" and she looked at him while he finally hung up and said "You look nice" in the same tone.

"Giving In? What? Whom? Where? What is that about?" she asked ignoring his compliment. He facepalmed and laughed "Don't stalk my profile you little moron" he joked "I am NOT. It's there on my timeline" she murmured. So he didn't want to tell her what that was about, that wasn't new to her. She got really pissed at him, he always wanted to know what she did but never really bothered enough to actually describe what was happening inside his head. "Where are we going, or is that a big secret too?" she snorted "Dinner" he said plainly. "Where?" she asked again. He didn't reply. "WHERE? WHERE?" she nudged him. "Shut up, do you have a cab to catch or something? You're with me, we go where I take you and this is the time when we both unwind, remember?" he said the last word matching her gaze. She felt a wave of giddiness the way he said it. Like it implied something she had forgotten. He smiled victoriously to finally shut her off and said "Now do the honours and turn on some good music baby." he said nodding his head to the player. She couldn't remember the last time he did this. Drive, spending time and being laid back.. dinner outside? She was a little lost for words or to react in any way. She played one of them songs they both loved to which they both looked at each other at the same time and started singing cheerfully. "I like you when you're not a complete ass you know?" she confessed. Changing the gear he smiled and said nothing.

There was this acute need for her to reason out what was happening, but there was this happiness she felt with him at that time which she thought she had long forgotten they both had as friends. She missed spending time with Him. She missed knowing what he always did, his silly jokes, she hated his routine and she hated the fact he was sucked in so many other issues and people and made no time for her. But this .. this was refreshing, like a tender reminder of the great times they had before he got busy. She wanted to ask him what was happening again, but he seemed to happy to really burst his bubble. She pulled his cheek softly and hugged his friend momentarily and pulled back. "Ass" she said "You really need to stop being a pervert baby, you ain't getting it" he laughed. Perfect! They were both at ease again, joking, arguing, being silly and unwinding their day together. "Listen to me, maybe I don't have work tomorrow, come with me tomorrow?" he said. She looked at him with eyes of agreement even without knowing what place or where was he talking about, he knew she wouldn't ever refuse his request, and a request that came out like that? No way in hell would she say no. She nodded and they spent the rest of the evening in glee and fun. Being themselves! Being with the people who mattered, they'd forgotten how happy they made each other. This was a nice change, a change she didn't mind that stayed. She loved all her friends, him, in particular she cared for the most maybe... She just brushed the back of his hand which was busy directing the gears gently and let it go that night, waiting for whatever came the next day.
